Al Statman

Al Statman spent most of his career as a Washington D.C. attorney specializing in representing electric utilities, transmission companies and generation companies before federal and state regulators. He was a managing partner & shareholder for 24 years of Wright & Talisman, P.C., a leading boutique energy firm in Washington, and was a shareholder with the firm for 33 years. He has also acted as a consultant to several utilities on their transmission business. Mr. Statman is an affiliate partner of Lindsay Goldberg, a New York based private equity firm providing advice and assistance on energy transactions. He was instrumental in the creation of Continental Energy by Lindsay Goldberg which included affiliates Cap Rock Energy, SEMCO and New Mexico Gas. Mr. Statman was a founder of Trans-Elect, Inc., North America’s first independent transmission company, and held various positions at the company including Executive Vice President and General Counsel from the company’s inception in 1999 through 2005. Since 2016 he has been a partner in the Libertad power projects in New Mexico, which are focused on the emerging hydrogen economy and hydrogen-based generation. He received his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was an editor of the Syracuse Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree at Oregon State University, where he graduated with highest honors.
